Botox®
Botox® Cosmetic is a purified protein injected to relax muscles so that they do not contract. There is essentially no down time after this treatment. When carefully administered to certain areas of the face, the overlying skin becomes smooth and unwrinkled for up to six months. Safely and effectively used by physicians for over 20 years, Botox is most commonly used to treat frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, as well as lines (“crow’s feet”) around the eyes. It is also an excellent treatment for lines above the upper lip and down turned corners of the mouth.
Botox Cosmetic can also be used to create a “chemical brow lift”. When injected to elevate the brows, the result is a more youthful appearance.
Treatment takes about 15 minutes. While there is no down time after treatment, patients should avoid strenuous physical activity for 24 hours after injection. The effect is not immediate. It usually takes 3-5 days to reduce muscle movement. Results will be apparent within days and usually last 3-6 months.
Fillers:
As we get older, sun exposure, natural aging and the stresses of today’s active lifestyle can break down the collagen and elastin (the support structure of the skin) causing increasing lines and deep wrinkles to appear. There are several products known as dermal fillers that can be used to plump up lines and restore volume to your face.
Restylane™
Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler used to restore volume and fullness to the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and facial folds as well as fill scars. Most commonly treated areas are the lines extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and the lips. Restalyne can be used to restore lip volume lost over time or to enhance lips that have always been thin or asymmetric.
Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid, a normal component of the skin that gives it support and volume. It has been FDA-approved for use in improving the look of facial wrinkles and folds. Because it is not derived from animal sources, it has very little risk of allergic reaction. It gives a soft, natural look and feel, and lasts an average of 6 months.
As your face changes over time, Restylane allows you to alter the lines and contours of your face for a more natural look than surgery or permanent fillers would allow.
Collagen
Collagen is an integral protein making up more than a third of the body's protein and 75% of our skin. As we age, our own Collagen begins to break down causing wrinkles, deep lines and sunken cheeks to appear. Similar to Restylane™, injections of Collagen to replace that which is lost, will successfully eliminate superficial lines and minimize deep furrows and results last an average of 6 months.
Because Collagen is an animal protein, allergic reaction is the primary risk. Therefore, our Plastic Surgeon will perform an allergy skin test about a month before the procedure to determine your sensitivity.
Juvéderm™
Like Restylane, Juvéderm injectable gel is a hyaluronic acid. It is the latest generation of dermal filler boasting the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid on the market today. Made up of larger molecules than other products, Juvéderm is less resistant to degradation and may last longer than other products. While results vary, it is common for treatments done on lips to last 6 months and sites treated around the nose and mouth to see results last 9- 12 months. This product is also the first FDA approved hyaluric acid dermal filler proven safe and effective for people of color.
With all fillers, some discomfort can be expected with injections, but this can be minimized with the use of topical and/or injectable anesthesia. Results can generally be seen immediately, though you may experience some temporary bruising at the injection sites and some mild to moderate redness and swelling for 48 hours. Lips may take a bit longer for all the swelling to leave. Makeup can be applied immediately following a treatment.

Each of our treatments is based on a careful analysis of your skin as well as your ultimate skin care goals. Some of the benefits of our facial treatments include an overall improvement in the texture and color of the skin, as well as a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles. Some peels are also effective in treating acne.
Alpha Hydroxy Acid Peel
This is the most common type of peel. Treatments usually require no down time afterwards and are often referred to as “lunchtime” peels. Studies show that these products are beneficial in reversing the effects of sun damage and thereforeaging. Two of the alpha hydroxy acid products that we commonly use are the glycolic acid and citric acid peels. Because these are performed in a physician’s office, we can offer stronger and more effective products than are available over-the-counter in the department and drug stores.
Glycolic acid peel
Naturally occurring products derived from sugar cane, the glycolic treatments help to decrease fine lines and wrinkles. They are also helpful in improving mottled pigmentation and sunspots. These peels are also very effective in treating acne.
Citric acid peel
Derived from citrus fruits, this treatment is very effective in reversing some of the harmful effects of sun exposure photoaging. Like the glycolic acids, these treatments are beneficial in correcting fine lines and pigmentation irregularities.
Salicylic acid peel
Also known as the beta hydroxyl acid peel, this peel is derived from willow bark, wintergreen leaves, and sweet birch. The anti-inflammatory and exfoliating effects of this treatment make it an excellent choice for acne and clogged pores. It has also been shown to be very effective in fading pigment spots, reducing fine lines, and enhancing skin texture.
